The floating islands would be free of taxes and other nations regulations, and this may be a reality in the near future.

And they can be a solution for nations dealing with rising sea levels and overcrowding population.

We’re in the COVID-19 pandemic, that caused a stir in the office culture.

Employees are allowed to work remotely and unbound from locations near now-closed corporate offices.

The founder of a Silicon Valley think tank is promoting the construction of seasteads.

They’re floating cities that operate independently of existing governments.

This concept of building permanent settlements at sea that would operate independently from existing nations, has great interest in the tech community of the SF Bay Area.

So, seastading combines various ideologies, including off-the-grid individualism, utopianism and a bit of anarcho-capitalism.
