Change? Can Things Change?

The America that was once the beacon of hope, the land of the free, the envy of the world, has obviously lost its wheels and lost its way. My country was headed full speed toward the cliff and a sure…

To Query or not to Query

As we are venture into the land of MYSQL I am feeling pretty confident. You see I work with developers every day. I sit across from a senior data architect who is a really nice guy and is very good at his job. My team spends most of their time working in a SQL based database. So, I went into the week feeling pretty confident that I would do well and not have any trouble. Now, while that is mostly true, I did have fun and learned a lot. I guess as long as I keep my mind open to learning new things even when I think I may already have a firm grasp, I am bound to learn something. So here I am writing SQL query after SQL query and having a great time doing it. I am really surprised in fact just how much fun I am having with the part of the Bootcamp. Makes me wonder if I have a future as a data architect. Time will only tell.

After two weeks in Bootcamp I am starting to get to know the people in my class. Everyone seems very eager to learn and very nice. We are a small group of 8 but, nonetheless we are all excited about what this class is teaching us. It seems that so far no one is overwhelmed or feeling stressed. Everyone seems to have a pretty good grasp on the topics and seems to be having a good time. We have not really come together a group yet, but I am sure that as time passes we will form the same tight bound that past Bootcamps have. Or at least I hope so. I know that I am going to do everything I can to help that along. I plan on starting to offer up our house on Sundays for study\coding sessions. You know, little coding, little food, oh and for sure a little or a lot of football. I am hoping that as we do these we will start to build friendships that will last a lifetime. My wife completed this Bootcamp last year and she still to this day hands out with her group pretty regularly.

So as we continue to venture down the path of becoming a full-stack developers, I am sure we will hit roadblocks and feel defeated or even that imposter syndrome that Sean is always talking to us about. But with each other, we will overcome and will for sure help each other through it. And we will all be better for it.

Justin Out.
