Tendrils In The Lattice

The incandescent lights flashed,
Yet the empty room felt cold.
Standing in the middle of the ruined living room;

Noises and sounds echo, echo, echo.

This was a harebrained idea to explore this place;
To open the abandoned door.
To see the dusty furniture covered in lace.

Losing balance, falling down.
I was swearing as I landed.
Never will I take the chance to explore again.

They say the ship landed today,
I see no aliens in sight.

What a terrible start to this underwhelming night.
The lights, keep on flashing.
Oh, I loathe this place.
Ignore the heat and the lights,
I am incandescent towards this adventure.

Nothing was inside, so I decided to leave.
Out the door only to stop.
Wait, that is a tendril!

Climbing the white lattice,
A squiggly gooey mess.
Its latch onto the outer wall,
Climbing slowly higher and higher.

Looks like I misjudge,
The world is about to be on fire!

I bet that history will remember.
Invaders are always excreted as the vilest conquerors.

The being climbed as I was in awe,
It never paused for a moment.
I will never forget the day they came,

Destroying the world around me.
