God Prepared It

Have you noticed that nobody leaves their valuable objects out and about anywhere without care or thought? It seems to be the case that the more valuable a thing is, the more we are inclined to tuck it further away. It looks like this idea is even at play in the makeup of a believer; the body easily accessible, followed by the soul and then the spirit, hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3).

From our verse for today, three things can be identified. One, the eye, no vision has the complete purpose of the Lord in view. Surely, it is great to have a vision for your life and anything you do, but always understand that God’s purpose is bigger. Two, the ear, no words you hear from anyone concerning your purpose are precise. It is a good practice to consult and seek feedback from the relevant people when it comes to your destiny, but that never has the full plan of God. Three, the heart, passion, and desire for anything are useful in helping you make the most out of it. Yet, that still does not reflect the full agenda of God for you.

What then should we do in our quest to know our purpose and pursue it? Hopefully, you read yesterday’s devotion, which helped us to know who is behind our purpose and why it is important. Our verse says, “… the things [purpose] which God has prepared for those who love Him.” What are we saying? Loving God is the most fundamental and surest way to not only find your purpose, but also live it out to its fullest. If you love me, keep my commandments [John 14:15]. The next few verses after John 14:15 bring the Holy Spirit into the picture as a Helper. Loving God is one of those treasures that is not left in the street, you need help to do it, and you are not without help. Likewise, your purpose requires discovering because it is precious.
